If Ricky Bobby's immortal words, “I wanna go fast” apply to you, then you’re probably like us and are looking for the best places to ride your dirt bike in the Western Cape area. Preferably somewhere with some jumps and whoops so you can get in a little practice for MX Nationals.
We've put together this list for all the motocross riders who are looking for the best places to ride in and around Cape Town. Every now and then a new motocross track pops up so we'll be updating this list from time to time to keep up.
ZONE 7
Track type(s): Senior MX, junior MX, enduro loop (14km), RC track, dirt go kart, dirt oval for cars/bikes/quads
Van Schoorsdrift Rd, Cape Farms, Cape Town, 7550
Old Faithful. We all know Zone 7.
A classic spot where National and Regional motocross events are often hosted. Located off the N7, behind the Morningstar Airfield, this is a great track for beginners and experienced riders.
There’s also a bike service centre and rider training facilities offered on the premises. Make sure to take the whole family along when you do go because there's plenty to do at Zone 7, even for non-riders, and they offer braai facilities so you can really make a day of it.
Make sure to check their website regularly because they often host rad events and races that you won't want to miss out on.
CAPE DIRT
Track type(s): Junior MX track, an enduro trail and a challenging enduro X trail.
Ruitersvlei Wine Estate, Paarl, 7646

Cape Dirt is a true hidden gem set in the scenic Paarl winelands. The facilities are well maintained and there's tons of fun to be had for the entire family. With a kids motocross track and a super challenging enduro trail, everyone will be challenged at Cape Dirt.
If anyone in the group isn't keen on riding, they can enjoy some wine tasting or relax in the dog-friendly garden area. And you can spend the whole weekend there in the guest rooms that they have on offer.
GORDONS BAY MX TRACK
Broadlands, Cape Town, 7140

Gordons Bay Motocross Track is maintained by a group of passionate local riders in the Helderberg area.
The track itself is a little worse for wear because it isn't managed by any specific person or group, but it's worth taking a ride around and exploring a bit if you live in the area.
ATLANTIS DUNES
0 Dassenberg Dr, Atlantis, Cape Town, 7349
While Atlantis Dunes may not be an actual track or trail, it’s the perfect place for motocross and enduro riders to learn to fly or ride on tricky terrain.
They also offer a number of other services like quad bike rentals, sandboarding and dune thrasher tours. Make sure to book in advance through their website if you plan to take one of the tours.
All dirt bike tracks require riders to be wearing full safety gear at all times while riding. Before you go anywhere, make sure you’re fully kitted up for the ride.
